This is my first post on Rant.li, a WriteFreely platform that's part of the Fediverse. So, while I've been writing for decades on other platforms, I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself to the community here.
I’m a longtime systems admin who worked at places you’d recognize. I’m an avid surfer 🌊 🏄♂️, animal rescuer 🐈🐱, a lifelong #Phillies fan ⚾️🏟️, an #improviser, a loving husband, and a VERY proud poppa.
I'm a #tech writer who focuses primarily on the topics of digital #privacy & #security. I tend to approach writing about tech from philosophical, political, and comedic points of view. That's because I have a background in those fields.
I know: I'm an odd bird.
I'm a long-time nature-loving hippie as well as a defender of the #environment and of equal rights and equal access for all people. For those reasons and more, I support the Black Lives Matter movement; I support my friends, family, and colleagues in the #LGBTQIA+ community; and I support and defend the power and truth of science and the scientific method.
What central code undermines all of these ethics, morals, and principles? Simple: my #Judaism. My religion has taught me to value others, to value education, to value hard work, and to value a concerted effort to help make a better world.
As a proud Jewish man with family there, I also support the unequivocal right for the State of #Israel to exist.
