- Kroger's operating profit for 2023 was $4.8 trillion.
- Kroger CEO base salary in 2023 was $1.4 million.
- Kroger CEO total compensation in 2023 was $15.7 million.
- Kroger increased associates’ average hourly wage to $18/hour in 2023, suggesting its lowest paid workers earn less. The living wage in 2022 was $25.02 per hour per worker for a family of four with two working adults.
- Kroger claims to direct more than $300 million annually through corporate “giving” primarily using two nonprofit foundations.
- That $300 million works out to about .06% of their operating profit which would be the equivalent of an individual with a net income of $100,000/year donating $62.50.
- Information regarding how the police officers stationed at each Kroger are paid is difficult to find.
- Information regarding who pays for the mobile surveillance trailers in each Kroger parking lot is difficult to find.
- Various reports regarding “shrink” at several retailers have shown this to be overstated regarding customer theft and understated regarding issues with inventory control, spoilage, and employee theft.
- While implementing costly anti-theft measures at targeted locations, Kroger has not increased staffing and lines are longer than ever.
- Maybe our councilpersons should be asking about these things instead of having photo ops at Kroger telling folks to stop stealing.
