DIDay

As part of the #DIDay movement, I'm happy to use WriteFreely in favor of Medium from now on.

I'm Jan, 53, dad of a 7-year old home-schooler, and a cybersecurity engineer and consultant in the automotive industry. I live in Austria as a German with Estonian ancestry. I'm a guitar player and music mixing and mastering engineer as well as music producer, former bee-keeper (with 60 hives and an actual degree), software engineer, former runner and jumper, basketball player and triathlete.

For the nerds: I grew up on a VIC-20, later a C-128, an Amiga 500 and Amiga 2000 before I switched to a 386 SX and stayed with PCs ever since. I did compile my own Slackware Linux distribution, played with GNU Hurd but mostly use FreeBSD, Debian, various Raspberry Pi distributions and Windows 11 today (due to my vast VST plugin collection that won't run on anything else).

What can you expect to read about on this blog in the future? Hard to say. Whatever plagues my mind. Here is a map of my other blogs if you want to dive into specific topics:

For now I want to say thanks for having me on Rant.li. I'm sure I'll rant more often than I'd like to.

Feel free to reach out on Mastodon or Matrix (@jhunnius:matrix.org). I'm also on Peertube ([email protected]), Lemmy (feddit), and Codeberg.

Cheers, Jan.
